Job Description

Be Energy is hiring a Lab Chemist to support laboratory operations and contribute to accurate operational planning and departmental efficiency. The role involves testing and analyzing petroleum products, maintaining laboratory equipment, managing chemicals and laboratory supplies, and ensuring compliance with EHS and laboratory safety standards.

This opportunity is particularly suitable for fresh Chemistry graduates or candidates with up to one year of relevant experience who want to build their career in the petroleum and energy sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect routine and non-routine samples from storage tank areas and tank lorries.
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of petroleum products.
  • Conduct routine calibration of laboratory equipment.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment under the supervision of laboratory seniors.
  • Ensure laboratory instruments remain properly maintained and operational.
  • Manage inventory of chemicals and laboratory glassware.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory inventory records and logbooks.
  • Follow established laboratory testing procedures and quality standards.
  • Implement best practices related to EHS (Environment, Health & Safety).
  • Maintain proper laboratory housekeeping standards.
  • Ensure appropriate segregation and disposal of laboratory waste.
  • Prepare and maintain laboratory operation-related documents.
  • Record and maintain accurate testing and analysis results.
  • Support laboratory seniors in routine operational and analytical activities.
  • Identify and report laboratory issues, discrepancies, or equipment-related concerns.
  • Follow applicable safety procedures while handling petroleum samples, chemicals, and laboratory equipment.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Fresh graduate or up to 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry.
  • Strong understanding of qualitative and quantitative chemical analysis.
  • Knowledge of petroleum product testing and analysis.
  • Basic understanding of laboratory equipment calibration and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of chemical handling and laboratory safety practices.
  • Understanding of EHS standards would be advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain proper laboratory documentation and records.
  • Ability to work effectively under supervision and as part of a laboratory team.
  • Willingness to work in an operational/petroleum-industry environment.
