Senior Data Analyst / BI Engineer

The organization is hiring a hands-on Senior Data Analyst / BI Engineer to join its Analytics & Reporting team and support banking-sector reporting and business intelligence initiatives in Karachi.

The role focuses on developing enterprise-grade reporting solutions using Power BI, Paginated Reports, SSRS, SQL, SSIS, DAX, and Power Query, while translating business requirements into meaningful KPIs, reports, and actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and reports.
• Design and develop Paginated Reports and SSRS reports for enterprise reporting requirements.
• Translate business requirements into meaningful reports, KPIs, metrics, and analytical insights.
• Write and optimize complex SQL queries for reporting and analytics.
• Work with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) and relational databases.
• Develop and maintain data integration workflows using SSIS.
• Build and maintain robust reporting datasets and semantic models.
• Develop advanced DAX measures and calculations.
• Use Power Query for data transformation, cleansing, and preparation.
• Apply dimensional modeling principles to create scalable analytical models.
• Contribute to the design and maintenance of the semantic layer.
• Validate data accuracy, completeness, and consistency across reporting solutions.
• Optimize reports, queries, and data models for improved performance.
• Perform query tuning and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks.
• Monitor and optimize Power BI data refresh performance.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand reporting and analytical requirements.
• Convert complex business data into clear and actionable insights.
• Support enterprise reporting and analytics requirements within the banking sector.
• Troubleshoot reporting, data, refresh, and integration-related issues.
• Ensure reporting solutions follow appropriate data governance and quality standards.
• Document data models, reports, business logic, and technical processes.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• 2–5 years of hands-on experience in Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Reporting, or a related field.
• Strong practical experience with Power BI.
• Strong knowledge of DAX and Power Query.
• Hands-on experience with Paginated Reports and SSRS.
• Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases.
• Practical knowledge of SSMS and SSIS.
• Understanding of dimensional data modeling.
• Knowledge of semantic layer design and analytical data models.
• Experience translating business requirements into KPIs and reporting solutions.
• Strong understanding of data visualization and dashboard design.
• Experience with report and query optimization.
• Understanding of data refresh mechanisms and performance optimization.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with business and technical stakeholders.
• Banking or financial-services reporting experience would be highly advantageous.
• Experience with enterprise-scale reporting environments would be a plus.
